| Omnicom Cares |
Omnicom supports good causes through a combination of financial contributions and volunteerism.
As part of Omnicom's 2008 Americas Financial Leadership Conference, Omnicom was a program sponsor at the City Year's Service-a-thon in Boston. Omnicom employees represented the largest corporate presence at the Serve-a-thon and dedicated their efforts at the Old Colony Teen Center and the Gavin Middle School gymnasium. Once again, the team from Omnicom moved mountains, proved that inspiration is infectious and the power to make a difference for children and their communities is priceless.
In addition, this year, the Omnicom family of companies assisted relief efforts in the areas of China devastated by earthquakes. The response from Omnicom companies was strong and swift, including significant financial donations and the pro bono organization of fundraisers. Our companies also have been working with clients to provide medicine, help with logistics, donate water and other supplies.
Omnicom companies also helped rebuild the Gulf Coast region of the US after Hurricane Katrina. Omnicom was one of the first companies to support the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund. The company's initial contribution was matched by Omnicom employees from across the globe.
As part of its 2007 North American Financial Leadership Conference, Omnicom worked with Kaboom! to build a much needed playground for children attending the New Orleans public school, Laurel Elementary which currently serves more than 600 students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, 60% of whom are still living in temporary housing. Omnicom also donated funds to the school for the purchase of lockers, uniforms and to support student jobs programs.
Our agencies are actively involved in developing and implementing efforts to reduce our carbon footprint. Our aim is to reduce the environmental impact of all activities associated with our business and to seek continual improvements in the management of energy usage throughout Omnicom companies.
