GLOBAL Citizenship and Sustainability Policy

Omnicom — together with our network of more than 1,500 agencies — has had a long history of applying our creative talents and financial resources to improve the world around us. In all of our work, we are guided by a set of responsible policies and practices that reflect our commitment to celebrating the power of diversity, making environmental improvements and finding new, innovative ways to contribute to worthy causes.

The Omnicom Group's Global Citizenship and Sustainability Policy details our values and establishes a set of standards for business conduct that applies to employees within our global holding company as well as to the agencies that deliver services to our clients.

Global Citizenship and Sustainability is one of a number of corporate objectives that reflect our commitment to make positive contributions to the global community. Our Global Citizenship and Sustainability policies cover four specific focus areas:  workplace, governance, community and environment.

We recognize policy implementation may be addressed differently within each of our agencies to accommodate the distinctive priorities and qualifications of each firm in our network. However, Omnicom Citizenship and Sustainability Policies and Practices are expected to be followed in basic principle. To encourage and support these practices and policies, Omnicom will support our agency network with tools and materials.


We are committed to using best practices and tools for recruiting and retaining a workforce that reflects our global community. By attracting the best talent from diverse backgrounds and experiences, our globally recognized and locally managed brands provide unique perspective and extraordinary creativity and services to their clients. We foster a working environment where all employees can achieve their greatest potential.

Omnicom has developed a number of policies to promote an inclusive workplace and create an environment that fosters creative and innovative ideas and practices. These policies also extend to our supply chain.

  • Diversity
    Omnicom seeks to attract and retain the best talent from diverse backgrounds and experiences.Our efforts will include actively collaborating with organizations and institutions to identify talent that will offer the best service to our clients and our company. Omnicom's commitment to diversity and inclusion is reflected in the following statistics regarding our workforce:

  • Fair Compensation
    Omnicom believes maintaining our culture of creative excellence and superior client service requires employees to be compensated competitively and fairly, taking into account individual performance, geography and relevant market practices.
  • Whistleblower
    Omnicom employees are encouraged to report any suspected violation of Omnicom policy (including violations of accounting or auditing policies) or laws governing our business by Omnicom employees. If there are any doubts about whether any employee is adhering to these principles, Omnicom employees should discuss the matter with their supervisor, the financial manager or Omnicom's General Counsel's office. Employees will not be disciplined or suffer retaliation for reporting suspected violations honestly and in good faith. Employees will not be required to identify themselves. All reports will be confidential except as necessary to conduct investigations. 
  • Health and Safety
    Omnicom meets or exceeds all applicable health and safety laws and regulations. We encourage agencies to promote health and safety awareness among all employees and integrate activities into their business practices.
  • Respecting human rights
    Omnicom supports and respects the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights and ensures the company and its subsidiaries are not complicit in human rights abuses.  
  • Training and Career Development
    Omnicom believes in the importance of maintaining the creative excellence and professional service our agencies provide our clients. We provide educational opportunities to employees in our agencies, support the development of innovative programs across the network and encourage all employees to participate.
  • Fulfilling and favorable work environment
    Omnicom is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive workplace free of actual or perceived abusive or sexual harassment.


We are committed to the highest standards of integrity, ethics and personal and corporate responsibility, and we closely adhere to the laws and regulations that govern our business. We strive to continually review, renew and strengthen our policies and practices to help our agencies uphold the highest standards of integrity and responsibility.

The Omnicom culture fosters ethical leadership and promotes ethical behavior at all levels of our company. The following policies build upon the strong culture of institutional integrity found across our network of agencies.

  • Corporate governance
    Omnicom recognizes the importance of an independent and diverse board of directors. All corporate governance structures across the network shall ensure their structure includes practices that will incorporate independent ideas and opportunities for diverse input and consultation.
  • Compliance
    Omnicom requires all employees to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in full accordance to the company Code of Conduct.
  • Code of Conduct
    Omnicom's Code of Conduct shall be regularly updated to ensure it is current and relevant to real-world conditions. Omnicom requires all senior financial officers to adhere to the Code of Ethics and assure the company's financial reporting is proper and transparent.
  • Responsible Marketing
    Omnicom is committed to complying with all laws and regulations governing advertising and related services in the jurisdictions in which its agencies operate. Our responsible marketing policy requires Omnicom agencies to comply with state consumer protection and advertising laws by the review, when appropriate, of either in-house or outside counsel with expertise in the applicable laws.


Our business is both global and local. To improve the communities in which we live and work, we share our time, resources, talent and expertise to help those in need and ensure that our communities have the brightest future possible.

Community investment is an integral part of our culture – from the very top to the bottom. Omnicom supports the sharing of employee talents and agency resources to improve communities around the globe.

  • Community involvement
    Omnicom employees are encouraged to be active participants in their communities. Omnicom supports employee efforts to sharing time, talent, resources and expertise for projects identified within offices and individually.  
  • Corporate philanthropy
    Omnicom encourages offices and individual employees to support worthy causes through a variety of means, including cash donations, in-kind donations of materials and pro bono work.


We recognize our business impacts the planet, and we have a responsibility to operate as efficiently as possible, curbing and cutting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions wherever we can. We are measuring, monitoring and reducing energy consumption in our offices and encouraging employees to be good environmental stewards.

Many of our agencies are actively working to minimize environmental impact on behalf of their clients and their own companies. Omnicom recognizes the need to enhance individual agency efforts in areas where the greatest environmental impact can be made, such as energy efficiency and travel reductions. With this objective in mind, Omnicom is focused on a continuous energy improvement program designed to reduce energy use and related carbon emissions.

  • Tracking and reporting impact
    Omnicom will compile annual measurements to track our carbon footprint and will incorporate findings into our annual Citizenship and Sustainability report.
  • Reducing emissions and energy use
    Omnicom will include programs and practices, where practical, to support the reduction of its energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions around the world.  
  • Green Building and Office Practices
    Omnicom encourages agencies to use energy-efficient building technologies that reduces the use of energy, expands the use of renewable energy sources, and implements the use of smart meters for any building or renovations in properties they own and operate. In addition, it is important that all offices implement sustainable practices that recycle products or reduce waste. Agencies are encouraged to offer programs to assist and support employees to practice sustainable habits and behaviors at work and home.  
  • Waste Management
    Omnicom encourages the safe recycling and the reuse of office items where applicable. Omnicom will work with vendors, where appropriate, to establish recycling programs to support the efforts of our agencies.
