PHD Taps Steve Piluso for East Coast Managing Director Spot

NEW YORK, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PHD, an Omnicom Media Group company, has named former Mindshare senior executive Steve Piluso as its new East Coast Managing Director, heading the agency's New York, Chicago and Minneapolis offices. Piluso replaces John Swift, who has been named Managing Director, Integrated Investment, for Omnicom Media Group.

With a portfolio of experience that encompasses immersive entertainment marketing, strategic planning and corporate branding for clients such as Unilever, Sprint, American Express and IBM, Piluso has established a track record for delivering creative communications solutions for clients' business challenges. As Managing Director for Mindshare Entertainment, he was involved with break-out branded content campaigns like Breyers' current Smooth & Dreamy vignettes starring 30 Rock's Jane Krakowski; Sprint's "Business on Main" online community and programming platforms for small businesses; and the innovative webisode extensions to Fox's hit series 24 that were available exclusively to American Express cardholders. His earlier agency experience includes a stint as Associate Media Director at Messner, Vetere, Berger, MacNamee, Schmetterer, Euro RSCG, where he worked on the Intel business, and five years at Young and Rubicam/The Media Edge, where he began his career.

"Steve will play a key role in PHD's ongoing expansion and growth strategy, and the evolution of the enterprise," says PHD CEO Scott Hagedorn. Noting that the New York office is fresh off an awards season in which its campaign for HBO's True Blood series cleaned up at the podium, Hagedorn says, "His pioneering work in the branded entertainment space, combined with his experience running large consumer, technology and communication client teams, will be a catalyst for turning acclaim into accounts."

For his part, Piluso is eager to take on the challenge of sustaining - and increasing - growth in a tough marketplace at a shop that bucks the traditional media agency model to deliver on the promise of media as marketing. "The key challenge for agencies right now is reconciling clients' demand for innovation AND efficiency - two deliverables that are often inherently at odds with each other," says Piluso. "PHD is uniquely poised to deliver on both of those expectations. We are a nimble company that is able to quickly and effectively integrate emerging technologies into our solution set, yet has the resources and efficiencies that being part of Omnicom Media Group affords."

Among the clients on Piluso's new roster are: in New York, HBO, Discovery Networks and the American Legacy Foundation; in Chicago, Bissell and Cricket Communications; and in Minneapolis, Hormel Foods.
