  • Omnicom celebrates five years of Omniwomen UK + Allies with annual Leadership Summit that champions diverse women and career paths
  • Female representation in senior management and boards in Omnicom UK agencies has increased by 25 per cent since 2015
  • Keynote speakers at this year’s Leadership Summit include disability activist Dr Caroline Casey and former leader of the Women’s Equality Party Sophie Walker

LONDON, 8 March 2019: Omnicom Group – a global leader in advertising and marketing communications – today celebrates its fifth year of Omniwomen UK + Allies, an initiative set up to help the organisation increase the number, seniority and influence of women in its leadership roles. Once more, the Group is holding its annual Omniwomen UK + Allies Leadership Summit on International Women’s Day.

Since Omniwomen UK + Allies’ inauguration in 2015, the initiative has reached thousands of women and their male allies from Omnicom UK agencies, and has made good progress in getting more women into senior roles: half (50 per cent) of Omnicom’s senior leadership in the UK are now female, an increase of 25 per cent in five years.

Yet there is still more to be done to diversify female leadership and champion different routes to the top, which is why this year’s Summit has focused in on the theme of ‘Supporting Diverse Paths to Leadership’.

Sam Phillips, Chair of OPEN UK + CMO Omnicom Media Group + Assistant Dean Omnicom University, explains, “We believe inclusion and diversity lead to greater business success, yet this is still one of the most pressing challenges faced by the communications industry today. We are incredibly proud of the progress Omniwomen UK + Allies has made to date, but recognise that more can be done to enable women from all backgrounds to succeed.

Throughout the course of this year’s Leadership Summit, Omnicom UK delegates will enjoy candid talks from some truly inspirational and diverse leaders, including disability activist Dr Caroline Casey, former leader of the Women’s Equality Party Sophie Walker, and Theirworld CEO Sarah Brown. Themes being explored on the day include the value of inclusivity, unconscious bias and the importance of valuing people of all generations.

Dr Caroline Casey, disability inclusion activist and Leadership Summit keynote speaker, says, “Diversity and inclusion is more than just a statistic. Being able to seize opportunities and live life to the fullest is essential to the billion people across the world that experience disability. I urge businesses to join The Valuable 500 movement and stop being diversish. It’s no longer good enough for companies to say ‘disability doesn’t fit with our brand’ or ‘it’s a good idea to explore next year’. Businesses cannot be truly inclusive if disability is continuingly ignored on leadership agendas. I’m proud to be speaking at this year’s Omniwomen UK + Allies Leadership Summit - to play my part in making inclusion everyone’s business.”

Ali Gee, Co-Chair of Omniwomen UK + Allies for 2019 and Deputy CEO & Senior Partner, FleishmanHillard Fishburn, adds, “This year’s Leadership Summit is very special, marking five years of championing inclusivity in the workplace with a fantastic line-up of speakers. We look forward to hearing their experiences, and I know that everyone – including myself – will get a great deal out of the day.”

Omniwomen UK + Allies’ chosen charity partner for 2019 is Theirworld - the global children’s charity committed to giving the most vulnerable children and young people a brighter future in their world. The Charity is being broadly supported Omnicom by as part of Omnicom’s commitment to the UN Strategic Development Goal for Education.
