Omnicom Appoints Serge Dumont Senior Vice President and President, Asia-Pacific

TOKYO, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Omnicom Group Inc. ("Omnicom") (NYSE: OMC), the leading global advertising and marketing services group, today announced the appointment of Serge Dumont as Senior Vice President, Omnicom Group Inc., and President of Omnicom Asia-Pacific.

Reporting directly to Michael Birkin, Vice Chairman, Omnicom Group Inc., and Chairman and CEO of Omnicom Asia-Pacific, Mr. Dumont will help spearhead Omnicom's strategic expansion in Asia, initially focusing on Greater China, where he has built a highly distinguished career as a businessman and strategic communications professional.

Mr. Dumont, a French businessman with close ties to the U.S. and Europe, has worked in Asia, particularly in China, for over 20 years, founding a strategic communications consultancy in the People's Republic of China, that advises Fortune 500 clients. Given his unique strategic communications background, Mr. Dumont has frequently been retained as a high-level advisor by governments and multilateral bodies such as the World Health Organization, the Beijing Municipal Government and the French government.

Mr. Dumont actively supports several philanthropic endeavors, such as organizing China's first high-profile charity event for HIV/AIDS and establishing a scholarship fund at China's prestigious Tsinghua University.

As a result of his lifelong involvement in business, trade, the arts and philanthropy, Mr. Dumont has received a number of awards throughout his career, including France's highest military and civilian honor, the "Legion d'Honneur" (Legion of Honor). He was named "Chevalier des Arts et Lettres" (Knight of Arts and Literature) and received a Presidential Citation, the highest award conferred by Rotary International. He was also appointed "Conseiller du Commerce Exterieur de la France" -- France's Foreign Trade Advisor.

Mr. Dumont has dual degrees from the Sorbonne University in Paris. He also studied at the Taiwan Normal University and the Political Institute in Taipei. He is fluent in Mandarin, English and French.
