Omnicom University’s Advanced Management Program Returns to Shanghai

Executive Training Program Reflects Commitment to Continuous Learning in Greater China

Shanghai, 17 September 2013 — Omnicom University’s Advanced Management Program (AMP), the acclaimed leadership development course run by Omnicom Group Inc., was held at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai from September 11 to 14, the fifth AMP session to be held in the Greater China region over the last six years.

AMP, a focused leadership program for senior managers of Omnicom Group companies around the world, reflects Omnicom’s commitment to executive development and continuous learning. It is one of the premier courses provided by Omnicom University, the Group’s in-house global leadership development initiative created in 1995 to form the core of its commitment to attract, retain, and motivate key talent.

The 54 senior managers attending this year’s AMP worked closely with professors from the Harvard Business School and CEIBS, using the case study method to explore the best contemporary thinking on issues and trends in the advertising and communications industry. Omnicom University Faculty Chair Nancy Koehn, the James E. Robison Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, and Professor Wang Gao, a professor at CEIBS, taught the Shanghai session.

“We use cases that center on real-world issues facing managers at Omnicom companies,” said Janet Riccio, Dean of Omnicom University.  “Along with the cases selected by Harvard Business School and CEIBS, these custom Omnicom cases help agency leaders navigate today’s competitive and fast-changing market, both in Asia Pacific and beyond.”

To date, more than 3,000 top managers have participated in Omnicom University’s training programs, which rely on a concept called the Service Profit Chain to guide the successful management and growth of their agencies.  Janet Riccio noted, “In the 19 years since Omnicom University was established, the Service Profit Chain has fostered a common culture and common values, which are propagated throughout Omnicom by senior managers who have completed the AMP coursework.”

“This executive development program is without parallel in our industry, making it a key competitive advantage for Omnicom,” said Serge Dumont, Vice Chairman of Omnicom Group. “To keep pace with the steady growth of our business in this crucial region, we must attract, develop, and retain the best talent available. For that reason, we remain more committed than ever to investing in our people in a way that sustains and accelerates our growth.”

About the Advanced Management Program (AMP)
The AMP was launched in November 2005. Since then, participants have included CEOs, CFOs, creative directors, managing directors, regional directors, global directors and general managers of Omnicom Group companies. The program's mission is to introduce future leaders throughout Omnicom to the core principles of managing a professional services firm while disseminating Omnicom’s operational practices and cultural beliefs throughout the organization.

In addition to providing a world-class learning experience, AMP gives senior managers the opportunity to forge valuable relationships with other people throughout Omnicom. Along with CEIBS, Omnicom Group holds three other Advanced Management Programs: two in the United States, and one in Italy.
