OMC Brands also Win Top Reviews from Time, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal
NEW YORK, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Omnicom Group Inc. agencies won six of the top 10 spots in this year's USA Today Super Bowl Ad Meter and 15 of the 19 Ad Meter All-Stars rankings, including first and second place.
Super Bowl XLII also was the 15th Super Bowl since 1989 where Omnicom companies created the No. 1 commercial in USA Today's popular advertising competition. For the tenth consecutive year, the winning commercial was from Anheuser-Busch and was created by DDB Worldwide. In a four-legged redux of "Rocky," a Clydesdale is coached by a Dalmatian to earn a place on the team pulling the Budweiser wagon. The spot also was rated among the best of the game by Adweek, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.
A BBDO Worldwide spot for FedEx, featuring giant carrier pigeons on a rampage, was voted No. 2. Two Bud Light spots from DDB also placed in the top 10 as did Diet Pepsi Max work from BBDO and PepsiCo's SoBe Life Water commercial from The Arnell Group.
In the 20th Anniversary All-Star Ad Meter, a 1996 spot from BBDO for Pepsi captured first place while DDB commercials for Anheuser-Busch took three of the top five slots, including second place for a 2004 Bud Light spot.
In a separate review by Time magazine online, Omnicom agencies BBDO and DDB, respectively, captured three of seven A's for FedEx "Carrier Pigeons," Bud Light's "Fire Breather" and Bud Light's "Jackie Moon," featuring actor Will Ferrell.
Additionally, three of the top five ads on Yahoo were from BBDO ("Magnetic Attraction" with Justin Timberlake and "Carrier Pigeons) and DDB (Jackie Moon). Among TiVo users, the top ten rated commercials for this year included: Pepsi's "Magnetic Attraction" from BBDO; Hershey's Ice Breakers Ice Cube Gum with Carmen Electra from TracyLocke; Bud Light "Cavemen" and Cars.com's "Witch Doctor," both from DDB; and Life Water "Thriller" from the Arnell Group.
Finally, in a poll by AOL.com, five of the top ten commercials were from Omnicom agencies, including the No. 1 "Clydesdale Team" from DDB. Others in the top 10 included NFL.com's "Super Ad" from BBDO and NFL in-house, Life Water "Thriller" from the Arnell Group, Pepsi's "Magnetic Attraction" and FedEx "Carrier Pigeons," both from BBDO.
